October 23, 2017 - 12:00am
Everyone is invited to the Mesoamerican Studies Center's conference, featuring keynote speakers Veronica Terriquez, sociology professor at UC Santa Cruz; Charles R. Hale, anthropology professor at University of Texas, Austin; and Iris Montero, Mellon postdoctoral scholar at Brown University. Students at all levels, across disciplines, as well as faculty members and guests, will present on a variety of topics, from ethnobotany to immigration. The day culminates with a dinner, a mariachi band and a performance by a local Indigenous dance troupe. The event is organized by professors Arturo Arias and Paul Almeida and supported by a grant from the Center for the Humanities, among others.
