Come see the beautiful sunrise over the Sierra Nevada while hiking on the UC Merced Vernal Pools and Grassland Reserve.
Many animals are especially active in the early morning, so the potential for exciting observation is high. Bring a daypack with water, a camera, binoculars and a hat.
The reserve gate is at the intersection of Ranchers Road and Ansel Adams Road, 50 yards north of the Student Services Building, on the UC Merced campus. Meet at 6 a.m. sharp at the entrance gate.
The walk will last approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. We will hike out to the highest hilltop on the reserve to have a great perspective as the morning sun fills the valley. Open to all, but limited to 20, by reservation only. A second hike will be held in October, and again in November.
A waiver will be required for all non-UC attendees and will be provided at the beginning of the hike.
