UC Merced Library is hosting a two-day Data Carpentry workshop for graduate students, postdoctoral researchers and faculty members. This hands-on workshop will teach basic concepts, skills, and tools for working more effectively with data. Data Carpentry workshops are for researchers from any discipline who have data they want to analyze, and no prior computational experience is required. This workshop will cover data organization in spreadsheets, data cleaning with OpenRefine, data analysis and visualization in Python and data management with SQL. Participants should bring their laptops and plan to participate actively. By the end of the workshop, learners should be able to more effectively manage and analyze data and be able to apply the tools and approaches directly to their ongoing research. Participants are asked to pay a $30 fee by supplying an FAU (departmental account string) when completing the registration form.
