Council of Graduate Deans Spring 2020 Meeting

UC Merced is proud to welcome our colleagues across the University of California system, as hosts for the 2020 Council of Graduate Deans Annual Spring Meeting. 

The COGD Spring Meeting will take place on May 18-19, 2020 at the UC Merced campus, located in the heart of the Central San Joaquin Valley and near the foothils of majestic Yosemite National Park.

UC Merced opened its doors in 2005, as the newest campus in the University of California system and the first American research university of the 21st century. As of Fall 2019, UC Merced has over 8,500 students, including nearly 700 graduate students across 18 graduate programs. 

The meeting will have a traditional schedule, with various stakeholder meetings taking place on Monday afternoon and Deans and all COGD key staff meetings on Tuesday.

Traveling into the City of Merced

  • Air: The closest major airport to Merced is in Fresno (FAT), which is about one-hour away from the UC Merced campus. Merced has a regional airport with direct flights to/from Los Angeles, using Boutique Air. Sacramento, San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose airports are all about 2-3 hours away from Merced. 
  • Car: Merced can be accessed directly from Highway 99. UC Merced is about eight miles northeast of the city of Merced’s downtown area. Click on the link to the left for driving directions into UC Merced.
  • Bus: Merced's bus station is located downtown on 710 W. 16th St. Greyhound bus services runs ten daily round-trip stops in Merced from Northern and Southern California.
  • Train: The Merced Amtrak station is located at 324 W. 24 St. The train is one of the best ways to travel throughout the state of California. In addition to being a low-cost option, it protects the environment by taking more vehicles off the road.

 

Getting Around Campus

Grad. Div. Shuttles to/from Hotel

UC Merced Graduate Division will offer shuttles to/from the Marriott Towneplace Suites and Campus. The shuttles will be available on Monday, May 18 and Tuesday, May 19.

UC Merced Parking

UC Merced honors all quarterly and annual faculty/staff parking permits from other University of California campuses. You may park in any of the non-specially marked "general" spaces in any lot. Such permits are not valid for parking in Reserved, Carpool, University Business or disabled parking spaces.
