Graduate Admissions: How to Apply

  1. Apply Online: Submit your admissions application. You will be required to pay the application fee. We recognize that the application fee may pose a challenge for some applicants. To help ease this, the Graduate Division offers several application fee support program vouchers for qualified domestic students. Learn more.

  2. Transcripts: Upload a scanned unofficial copy of your transcripts for the initial review process. Official transcripts will only be required upon admission.

  3. Letters of Recommendation (3): Three letters of recommendation are required, preferably from professors or instructors in the proposed field of study.

  4. Statement of Purpose and Personal History: Submit the two required personal essays to your admissions application. Recommended essay length is 2-3 pages (double-spaced).

  5. Program-Specific Requirements: Application requirements may vary by program (ex. GRE or a Writing Sample). For more information, visit our detailed Application Requirements page.

  6. International Applicants Only: Proficiency in English must be demonstrated by passing one of two standardized tests, the TOEFL or IELTS. For more information, please visit our International Applicants page.
