The UC Merced Chancellor's Postdoctoral Fellowship Program (CPFP) offers postdoctoral research fellowships, faculty mentoring, and eligibility for the UC-system hiring incentive to outstanding scholars in all fields whose research, teaching, and service will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity at the University of California.
These contributions to diversity and equal opportunity may include public service, addressing the needs of our increasingly diverse society, efforts to advance equitable access to higher education, or research focusing on underserved populations or understanding inequalities related to race, gender, disability or LGBT. The program is seeking applicants with the potential to bring to their academic careers the critical perspective that comes from their non-traditional educational backgrounds or understanding of the experiences of groups historically underrepresented in higher education. The CPFP fellows are selected through the President's Postdoctoral Fellowship Program (PPFP) online application and system-wide faculty review process.
Criteria: Candidates must be scholars who will contribute to diversity in higher education through their teaching, research or service and who will have a doctorate awarded by the start of the appointment.

Award:The 2023 award includes a salary starting at approximately $55,632 depending on field expereince. The award also includes health insurance, and paid vacation/sick leave, and up to $5,000 for research- related and program travel expenses. Each award is for a minimum of 12-months and may be renewable for an additional term upon demonstration of academc/research productivity.
Applicants must hold or receive a Ph.D. or terminal degree in their discipline (JD, MD, MFA, DVM, EdD, etc.) from an accredited university.
Successful applicants must present documents demonstrating that they are legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship and work authorization is possible for successful applicants through a process which would be managed by the International Students and Scholars Office with the support of the UC faculty mentor on their home campus. Individuals granted deferred action status under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program are encouraged to apply.
