UC Merced Students Have Several Low-cost Options for Spring Break Travel

Whether it's a trip back home to visit family, a ride to see friends or simply a vacation, UC Merced students can choose among multiple ways to travel for spring break.

For the 2023 spring semester, UC Merced observes Spring Recess Monday, March 27 — Thursday, March 30. The Cesar Chavez Day holiday is celebrated Friday, March 31. Classes resume Monday, April 3.

Students who are looking to get away but have yet to make their travel plans can take advantage of some low-cost deals.

Working at UC Merced Is a Family Affair for Three Generations

"A family that works together, stays together" is not usually how the saying goes. But for one family at UC Merced, it describes their relationship perfectly.

Diana Maravilla has worked at the campus since 2011, her daughter Sharee Sok joined in 2015, and her granddaughter Korynn Maravilla recently graduated from UC Merced and is now a staff member as well, making three generations currently on UC Merced's staff.

But all good things must come to an end. Diana is set to retire in early January.

For the first time, UC Merced made its way to Chavez Ravine for the Bobcats at Dodger Stadium alumni event on Sept. 6. Alums from several classes had the chance to catch the Los Angeles Dodgers take on the San Francisco Giants. In the end, the Boys in Blue were victorious, 6-3.
