Electrical Engineering & Small Scale Technologies Graduate Program at UC Merced

 UC Merced professors and researchers have acquired more than $185.7 million in grants and contracts, one of the highest per-capita in the country. With more than 400 graduate students and a rapidly growing graduate student population, it is no wonder UC Merced is attracting the best and brightest scholars from all over the world. UC Merced provides competitive financial support and resources. About 95 percent of our graduate students receive funding in the form of fellowships, teaching assistantships (TA), and graduate student researcher (GSR) assistantships.

Graduate study in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (M.S., Ph.D.) offers individualized, strongly research-oriented courses of study, leading to master’s and doctoral degrees.

The Electrical Engineering and Computer Science graduate emphasis at UC Merced is organized to allow students to pursue world-class cutting-edge research in modern fields of computer science. Current research topics include computational neuroscience, digital information processing and informatics, database design and development, mobile ad-hoc and sensor networks, cloud computing, distributed computing, cyber-security, algorithm design and testing, artificial intelligence and robotics, computer graphics and animation, and image processing and analysis. Together with UC Berkeley, UC Davis and UC Santa Cruz, UC Merced is a part of the Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society (CITRIS). EECS faculty and graduate students are involved in various activities and research projects supported by CITRIS. Research conducted at Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is highly cross-disciplinary and collaborative, involving faculty members from all three schools at UC Merced.
