Campus Service Closure Guide - Winter Break 2022

The university will officially close for seven business days from Friday, Dec. 23, through Monday, Jan. 2, and reopen for business Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023. During this period, several campus services will not be available. Please review the information about campus closures below and contact the appropriate parties should you have any questions.

Facilities

Facilities Management will be closed during the holidays and campus closure. The following services will not be available during the closure and will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 3:

  • Custodial services for offices, common areas, etc.

  • Mail services

  • Document services

  • Lock and access services

  • Moving and event services

  • Groundskeeping services

UCMPD / Emergency Services

UC Merced Police Department field services such as officers and the 9-1-1 center will remain open. Office services including lost and found, Livescan, and other administrative services will be closed during curtailment.

Anyone needing police services should call 209-228-2677 for police dispatch/9-1-1 center during curtailment and during non-business hours.

 

OIT

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) Service Desk, Classroom Support, and Event Support will be closed from Friday, Dec. 23 through Monday, Jan. 2. We will reopen for typical campus support on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

Though our offices will be closed during this period, OIT always has someone on call for campus emergencies. To report major campus issues or problems, you can call 228-HELP (4357). In the case of an emergency, we will communicate with the campus via the OIT System Status page, which also disseminates information to our Twitter feed and is accessble from the main page of the OIT website.

 

Logistics Services

Central Shipping and Receiving center will close Friday, Dec. 23 and reopen Tuesday, Jan. 3 – a schedule determined in consultation with key departments. Perishable products should be ordered and received on or before Dec. 20 so they can be delivered before the closure. The Supply Chain Center of Excellence is notifying suppliers and freight carriers to ensure logistics activities are coordinated. Processes are in place to handle unanticipated logistics needs. Accounts Payable, Travel and Tax Services

Invoices, payment requests and wire transfers must be submitted by Monday, Dec. 5 to ensure processing before the break. Please note that, depending on the request, additional approvals may be needed before processing can be completed. Anything submitted after Dec. 5 will be processed in the order received.

Travel and expense reports must be submitted for manager review by Monday, Dec. 12 for payment. Please be mindful the reports need to go through the full approval process (manager and university audit) before they can be sent for payment. Human Resources

Human Resources offices will be closed for the duration of the winter break. If you have an urgent HR issue that cannot wait until Jan. 3, please contact Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Human Resources Officer Lela Dennis at 209-349-2887.

 

TAPS

The TAPS office will be closed Friday, Dec. 23 through Monday, Jan. 2. Click here to view our winter break office hours.

Paid parking will be required during the winter break. For students residing on campus or commuting to campus during the break, click here for information about purchasing parking passes.

CatTracks and Route UC holiday schedules will be posted on the TAPS website shortly.

 

Dining Services

There will be no campus dining service from Dec. 18 through Jan. 1. The final meal service will be dinner on Saturday, Dec. 17 and the first meal service after the break will be breakfast on Monday, Jan. 2. Please contact dining@ucmerced.edu for questions.

 

Student Housing

Student housing is closed to students between Dec. 17 and Jan. 15, with the exception of students under special contract with no alternative housing. Click here for more information.

 

Student Health Services

Student Health Services and Counseling and Psychological Services will close to patient appointments beginning Dec. 19 and will reopen on Jan. 3.

For Student Health Services, students may call the Health Center at 209-228-2273 after hours if you wish to speak to an advice nurse.
