Dissertation Bootcamp

Dissertation Bootcamp is an intensive workshop designed to provide dedicated and quiet writing space for students who are looking to jumpstart their dissertation, thesis, or proposal writing process. Accommodations include space for quiet writing, space for mini-workshops, and space for breaks.

Optional mini-workshops will focus on topics such as writing, editing, references, staying healthy, motivation, and managing time and work, among others. Students can also sign up to meet one-on-one with writing consultants during the workshop. Meals and snacks will be provided.


The next Dissertation Bootcamp will be held March 25 - March 28, 2024. Applications are now open!

Bootcamp Goals, Requirements & Resources

  1. We will identify and use strategies that increase our writing productivity, and learn to avoid the most common time management mistakes graduate students make.
  2. We will develop a strategic plan for writing and degree completion that is consistent with our individual writing process and habits. Central to this is a consistent daily writing routine.
  3. We will develop a network of support and accountability for academic writing so that we can continue our productive and successful writing after Bootcamp ends.

Requirements:

  1. Attend Bootcamp every day, and write a minimum of five hours each day of Bootcamp.
  2. Participate in group meetings designed to help you set goals, identify obstacles, manage writing time (and energy), avoid procrastination and perfectionism.
  3. Take breaks as needed.
  4. Complete and submit your productivity chart and other "assignments."
  5. Respect your fellow Bootcampers and help to create a quiet and productive writing space for everyone.
