UC Merced's Department of Global Arts, Media, and Writing Studies is hosting its inaugural Arts Week, March 4 through 8, culminating in a Collaboratorium on March 9.
There will be workshops each weekday evening, and the Collaboratorium is an all-day event featuring free lunch, a student participant reading and a keynote reading by Aamina Ahmad. The day concludes with a citywide jam session and a concert by the faculty-student band G Street Revolution.

Tuesday, March 5: Professional Writing and the Arts workshop, 7-8 p.m., SSM 116
Wednesday, March 6: Student film screening with Q&A, 6-7 p.m., COB 120; and drum workshop with Carlos Caro and the UC Merced Latin Music Ensemble, 6-9 p.m., SSM 116
Thursday, March 7: Interactive art workshops, 10 am. to noon and 3-5 p.m., SSM 125; and lecture by faculty member Lorena Alvarado, 7 p.m. at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center on Main Street
Friday, March 8: Lindy Hop dance workshop and dance, 6 p.m., SSM 116
