November 18, 2015 - 9:00am to 10:30am

Connecting Innovations with Entrepreneurship

Learn the art of investing your "intellectual capital." This seminar will provide best practices for graduate student researchers who want to be prepared when their research extends beyond the academic world and into the business world, and who want to avoid the pitfalls that lie along the path between these worlds.

Speaker:
Peter Schuerman, Ph.D., Associate Vice Chancellor Office of Research and Economic Development

Dr. Schuerman will share his own experiences as a Ph.D. student in genetics at UC Davis and a USDA Postdoctoral Fellow, and his transition into working on partnerships between universities and businesses.  Dr. Schuerman is the founding member and architect of UC Berkeley’s Industry Alliances Office, and he previously held positions at Texas A&M, University of Florida, and Rice University.

Light refreshments will be served.
