Professional Development Conferences

Join us for our annually recurring one-day conferences — to help you choose between the academy and national labs, how you should prepare for a postdoctoral position for these tracks, and discussions of careers and opportunities in specific fields with experts.

National Labs Day

Showcases research and career pathways available at the National Labs. It is both a mini-conference with research talks, and also professional development for our graduate students, and postdocs. We invite representatives from national labs to speak and serve on a panel. Attendees have included Lawrence Livermore National Lab (LLNL), Sandia National Lab (SNL), Lawrence Berkeley National Lab (LBNL), the Joint Genome Institute (JGI), Los Alamos National Lab (LANL), Idaho National Lab (INL), Pacific Northwest National Lab (PNNL), and Oak Ridge National Lab (ONL).

Faculty Careers Day

Highlights academic career pathways at all levels - research intensive universities, teaching-focused institutions and community colleges. Faculty from these campuses visit UC Merced to share their experiences and advice about careers.
